    Farewell Fiesta for Pastor Katie

     We hope you will join us for a luncheon following Pastor Katie’s final service with us on Sunday, 10/2 in the Event Center immediately following the 11:11 service (which will also be in the Event Center).  There will be a blessing tree for Katie if anyone would like to bring gift cards, monetary gifts, cards, or written prayers.  Let’s use this time to grieve Pastor Katie’s departure but also celebrate her long lasting impact at FUMC Colleyville and her future as a senior pastor at Saint Paul UMC in Hurst.

    This year we decided to present a Children’s Bible to any child who is interested from Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade.     Connect Class

    All guests and new members are invited to attend our Connect Class, which is a short-term study designed to help people understand what it means to belong to FUMCC. We offer this three-week class to equip and inform those who are thinking about becoming members of FUMCC and those who recently joined. Our next Connect Class will be from Sunday, September 18 at 10:00 a.m. in the Bassett Conference Room and online. We will cover topics such as what it means to be a disciple, United Methodist Church history and beliefs, and membership at FUMCC. To sign up for this class, please click here.

    Men’s Bible Study

    We begin our next series on Wednesday, September 7 at 7 pm in FL204. We will be focusing on the differences between religious and scientific views. We will take a deeper dive than is normally taken in these sessions. They will be at times controversial and hopefully generate lots of discussion. Mike envisions it will lay out something like this.

    1.      Two sessions from Mike’s unpublished personal writings on Genesis 1-11, probably time restricted to Genesis 1-2. Will include Genesis 1-11 comments into #2 below.

    2.      Six sessions from the series “Is Genesis History?” DVD and Leader Guide (Calvinist Creationists)

    3.      ~8 sessions on subtopics using Great Courses Science and Religion DVD and Leader Guide (Balanced between Creationism and Science)

    4.      Mike will use the Complete Jewish Bible, the Commentary on the Torah, and other Jewish (including Messianic) sources to the maximum extent possible.

    Mental Health and the Church- 11:11 Worship Series- August 14-September 11

    Recent news reports have shared that following 2+ years of a pandemic, we are now in the midst of a mental health crisis. While often not talked about, mental illness affects many of us either directly or through people we love. During this worship series, we will be talking about mental health issues like self-esteem, anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, and trauma, and we will discover how our faith and the church community can offer hope and healing amid our mental health struggles.

    As a part of this worship series, we will offer QPR Training on Wednesday, September 14 from 7-8 p.m. in the Event Center. QPR- Question, Persuade, and Refer- is a suicide prevention training designed to give every person in our community the confidence and competence to help someone at risk for suicide. A representative from the Jordan Harris Foundation will conduct the training.
